Busy Busy July

Normally July is a fairly slow time for us (along with January and February); which is one reason I scheduled my vacation for July -- well, I guess it also had to do with my wife's high school reunion in Florida that we are going to -- but that was just a coincidence :o) But this year July has been really busy. I guess I should not have been surprised as the first 6 months of the year were a lot busier than last year -- surprising considering the economy -- but with our move to a new (and much bigger)location in January we have been able to handle more and bigger jobs, faster and with more accuracy. I am looking forward to a week off, but Erick, Victor, and Lisa are still going to be holding down the shop -- and I will be in contact daily. Having a business can be fun, but it can also wear on a person. I had hoped that in July we would be able to get our Facebook site up-and-running smoothly, get our new Quick Quote system on-line (people will be able to get a quick on-line quote for over 250 items in just a few clicks), and a new program that will allow us to Host on-line stores for schools, business company stores, and other groups that have their own apparel they want their people to be able to purchase on-line. But oh well, glad we are busy at least :o)

Up & Down...

Working at BreakOut prints is like riding a roller coaster. You walk in at the beginning of the month, and things are calm, quiet, and peaceful. You think, "hey, this isn't going to be so bad, how fast could this thing really go?" As the month progresses, you start to hear word of more orders coming in. 500 shirts here, 800 shirts here. At first it's no big deal-- we got this. As the roller coaster starts to climb, you start to feel uncomfortable. Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines!! We need 2000 shirts done by Wed.! Now you're panicking! Is this really happening? There's no way!! Somehow you hang on and as you're thrown about faster than you knew you could go. At one moment, you think you're not going to make it- this is the end! Yet, the coaster slows down and at the end of the ride, you're thinking, "Well that wasn't SO bad." You step off the roller coaster, and your friend grabs your arm and says, "Ok, now let's ride the BIG one!!"

5000 Shirt Job

We had to turn this job around in 1 week. Not only was it 5000 shirts, but there were about 50 different team names that went on different quantities. We finished it with time to spare, so we snuck a couple other jobs in the week as well.

BreakOut @ The Poway Fair

So we set up a tent on the hottest day of the year. I, Erick got sun burned pretty bad, while Peter (in the video), tried to stay out of the sun under the tent.

BreakOut Prints at the Poway Fair

Tomorrow we'll be setting up a booth at the poway fair. It's estimated over 15,000 people attend the fair, so we're hoping our presence their will remind people we're the place for T's! We'll be handing out free t-shirts, lanyards, coupons and other stuff. Be sure to check it out.

Tackle Twill? Are you serious?

So, I was going to let Rose post this on our blog, but I just couldn't wait. (Or maybe I accidently gave her the wrong password) Either way, I'm spilling the news. Mike and Rose successfully completed their first tackle twill job, and it looks great! Another great addition to the many services at BreakOut Prints!
